Dhangadhi: The dead body of a young man has been found in a canal in Kanchanpur. 35-year-old Chandra Bahadur Bista of Bhimdatta Municipality-4 was found dead.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dangi informed that Bista’s body was found in the main canal of Mahakali irrigation located in Bhimdatta Municipality-4 this morning (Tuesday).

Bist, who had left home around 12 noon on Sunday, was missing. The mobile he was carrying was ‘switched off’. When he was not found, the family filed a police complaint.

The CCTV of Gaddachouki crossing was watched on the suspicion that he had gone to India after publicizing his identity. He was not found.

However, DSP Dangi informed that his body was found in a sack in the main canal of Mahakali irrigation today.

According to the victim’s family, Chandra returned home from India a week ago. He came home for a relative’s wedding.

Before that he worked in Malaysia. The deceased Bishtaki’s wife, working in the Nepal Army, is in Sudan in the peacekeeping force. They have a 2-year-old daughter.

The victim’s family suspects that Chandra was killed and thrown into the canal. Police have detained two suspects for questioning.

Deepak Joshi and Bharat Chand of Bhimdatta Municipality-5 have been detained by the police for questioning.

DSP Dangi said that the post-mortem is being conducted at Mahakali Hospital and further investigations are underway.
